I'm looking for some information on diet and multiple myeloma. I want advice that is not too "alternative", as I'm a firm believer in western medicine and my first line of defense is to use chemical therapies. I don't want to take anything that might interfere with their efficacy. (ie, vitamin C and Green Tea with Velcade)
Is there any evidence that diet can actually help with fighting myeloma?
This is probably a dumb question but, by boosting our immune systems with healthy eating are we counteracting the efficacy of some of the drugs?
Another way of asking this question might be: Since most of these drugs are immunosuppressants, is immunosuppression needed in order to attack the myeloma cells? Or is immunosuppression a side effect and something we should try to counteract?
I seem to recall a discussion on this board regarding this, but my memory ain't what it used to be!
Thanks, Stan
ps. I have no idea why my sign in name is Stann. But I'm getting used to it--it makes me feel so...modern.
