This study is similar to the previous one on 5/12/2015. Non specific decrease in albumin. Equivocal protein electrophoresis pattern in gamma globulin region. Cannot determine whether or not this represents a faint discrete band or normal variation. Recommend repeat protein electrophoresis in 3-6 months to determine whether this pattern is progressing or regressing. Reviewed by: David N. Alter, M.D. 09/01/15 16:18:47 EDT DNA/efr

I just wanted to chime in to ask if your kidney biopsy was tested for AL amyloidosis? The test for AL amyloidosis is Congo red stain. It's not necessarily done routinely, so some doctor somewhere along the way would have had to ask specifically for it.
I don't think so, Tracy.
Re: Diagnosed with MGUS - am I supposed to feel this awful?
Hi Tracy,
When I saw my onc today and was asking about an earlier kidney biopsy while chatting about amyloidosis, he stated that it was routine to look for amyloidosis on kidney biopsies. I then reviewed my kidney biopsy results and saw that they had indeed tested for amyloidosis via Congo red staining even though there had been no suspicion of amyloidosis going into the test.
But then again, this might just be the routine testing protocol that my hospital follows and not a protocol that is followed by all of the medical industry.
Suesan,
In any case, it's not hard to get a copy of your kidney biopsy report. Just ask your doc or the hospital for a copy of the test results. Even though it might be a bit tough to read and understand as a layman, the 2-3 page report should contain the words "Congo red" and "amyloidosis" if they had tested for it.

Re: Diagnosed with MGUS - am I supposed to feel this awful?
Will do, guys. I am going to the oncologist Wednesday. His office is right by the hospital, but he also has a copy of the biopsy, so I will ask him first. He sent me to this forum, and so did my GP, to better understand my situation. So far it has been a big help. I hung out and just read other posts for a month before I felt comfortable posting.
I'll post an update after the visit.
Again, thank you all so much.
