Diagnosed April 2018 with Stage 1 kappa-only myeloma

by janimcdo on Sat Jul 14, 2018 1:32 am

Hello.

I am a 69 year old woman living in Squamish, British Columbia. Hip pain led to an MRI which showed a bone lesion, which required a gamma nail and screws. My myeloma treatment had started but had to be stopped for the surgery on my right femur, causing a 3-week delay.

I am now on weekly cyclophosphamide, bortezomib (Velcade), and dexamethasone (reduced recently) and monthly pamidronate (Aredia).

My myeloma is kappa free light chain only, Stage 1, with no nasty genetic markers, and I'm heading towards an autologous stem cell transplant in October.
