Diagnosed after T2 vertebra compressed & collapsed
My T2 vertebra compressed and collapsed seven months ago. I underwent spinal fusion surgery. Right after bone marrow biopsy, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. My oncologist told me I'm at stage 1. I don't have much symptoms, Bone marrow plasma cell percentage is below 10%, no calcium or protein in my blood or urine, all organ functioning well. It's important to note that I have been on levothyroxin sodium pill since I was 25 years old. Now I'm 41. Despite a very healthy life style I always had, including exercise and healthy eating habits, I got this cancer. I'm very much suspicious on levothyroxin sodium long-term side effects.

Re: Diagnosed after T2 vertebra compressed & collapsed
Hi Ned,
I had a thyroidectomy eighteen months ago and commenced levothyroxine at the same time. Within one month my myeloma remission came to an end and the M-spike returned. Coincidence perhaps, but in view of the very credible research relating to the subject of thyroid hormones and myeloma cell proliferation, I followed the advice of one of the research scientists involved and changed to the alternative medication Cynomel (liothyronine, 0.025 mg) which I take three times per day, This change was made with the knowledge and approval of my health professionals to whom I gave copies of the research results, most of which are available to you in Myeloma Beacon articles.
Although things now seem to be back under control I cannot say whether or not the change in thyroid medication has been beneficial or not, but I have experienced no detrimental effects with the Cynomel and I am continuing with that in the hope that I can give the research the benefit of the doubt.
Kind Regards
Victor L.
