Hi Kristine,

Thank you for sharing your very beautiful and heartfelt poem. The line “I breathe deep, sleep more, try to protect my children from my pain” really touched me. Of all the challenges I am facing, protecting my children (12 year old twin boys) is one of the toughest ones. Often I can’t protect them from the reality of my situation. But, as you so eloquently state, sometimes hidden gifts are left behind as part of this journey, and I know that my sons have become more caring and com­passionate people because of what I am going through.

I am so grateful for each and every reply, it really means a lot.

Dad's doctor has reduced his dexamethasone to 20 mg once a week. This cycle his Velcade treat­ments are also being spaced out over 4 weeks instead of two. He is so much better, but if we see that it does affect his results (which have been great thus far), we'll ask that they go back to his original treatment plan. I think this might be his final cycle before stem cell transplantation in any case ...

Good luck from the bottom of my heart to everyone out there who are dealing with multiple myeloma.
