Decrease in background gamma globulins - significance?

by wbayman1959 on Mon Jun 26, 2017 6:03 pm

Good Afternoon:

I received my Protein Electrophoresis, Serum detail on MyChart and noticed a note next to the final interpretation of protein;

"The previously identified monoclonal protein persists; it's amplitude has not changed significantly since 3/10/2017. Prior immunofixation showed that this represents an IgG Kappa paraprotein.

The background gamma globulins appear to have decreased."

Does anyone know if there is any significance to the comment regarding the decrease in background gamma globulins? I am sure it must not be significant as my specialist did not mention this to me at my appointment. However, it is the first time i have seen this comment on my electrophoresis report.

I was diagnosed only a year ago and get labs every 3 months, so this is only my 4th go-round and I am still learning.

Thanks so much for any help.
