Darzalex + Ninlaro vs. Darzalex + Revlimid

by KMZ on Thu Dec 28, 2017 4:36 pm

Hello,

My mom, who is 80 years old, was on treatment with Darzalex every month after a relapse.

Recent PET scan have shown still lots of progression of the disease, despite the treatment.

Here doctor is suggesting now to add Ninlaro (ixazomib), 3 tablets every week, then a rest, one tab 20 mg dexamethasone once a week. This is in addition to Darzalex.

I have read somewhere that there is not much data on the combination combination of Ninlaro with Darzalex.

Instead, Darzalex with Revlimid is very good.

Why might the Darzalex, Ninlaro, and dex regimen be preferred over a Darzalex, Revlimid, and dex regimen, or would the Revlimid regimen actually be better?

My husband was on Darzalex + Ninlaro + dexamethasone for about six months. Had to drop the Ninlaro a few months back due to increasing impact on nervous system and GI system.

The reason we went with Ninlaro was that he had a bad allergic response to Revlimid in the past. So prior response to Revlimid or any other drug related to thalidomide may be a consideration here.
