It certainly caused my hair loss. As strange as it might sound, I embraced my new look since it was nice and cool all summer. I wore large earrings, which really complemented the look.

Good luck and stay positive. It grows back quickly.

One of the things that I did prior to losing my hair was to go to the "Look Good, Feel Better" sessions that the American Cancer Society offers. They give you a bag of cosmetics and other body care products that various companies have donated. Each bag is geared for your skin tone with appropriate colors of lipstick, foundation and powder, and eye makeup. You are taught how to use the products by an aesthetics for when you may have no facial hair, etc.

I enjoyed the session. I particularly enjoyed meeting the other women in the group. A few months later, after my transplant and recovery and my return to work as a PT, a couple of the women from the group were referred to me for PT. What a surprise and a delight! We had already begun to develop a relationship through the group. Knowing some of what each other was going through with our cancer diagnoses helped to make the PT sessions so much more fruitful.

I recommend the program from the ACS. Also they do have another program where they will supply you with one free wig.

Hi all. Since carfilzomib was damaging my heart, I'll start cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) next week. I'll be taking a relatively low dose. If I recall, it will be 300 mg twice a month, but I'm not positive about this.

Does anyone know if people tend to lose their hair at this lower dose?

Hi Tracey,

I don't recall the dose of cyclophoshamide I was on but I had it for four cycles twice a week and did not lose any hair.

I lost hair for the first time when I had my big dose as part of the harvesting process. And yeah, I was as bald as a badger within about three weeks. Nonetheless it grew back.

Hi;

I believe not.

It will only cause hair loss if administered in a heavy dose. My Dad took cyclophosphamide for a while for thalidomide replacements and it did nothing. But during the stem cell mobilization, Dad lost his hair.

So, induction dose will not cause hair loss, I believe.
