CyBorD causing diarrhea & constipation

I will be starting on my 4th month of CyBorD (cyclophosphamide, Velcade, and dexamethasone) with weekly treatments soon.

Every week after I get my therapy the following day after treatment I start getting diarrhea and then after controlling that end up getting constipation for 3 days or so.

I fight both with OTC stuff, but am wondering if others are having the same kind of problems!

My doc doesn't want to change or switch therapies yet as I have responded very well (so far) to this second line therapy. He wants to keep me on it for a couple of more months

Hi Doug,

I had the same treatment with the same results. It was particularly challenging because the dex made me hungry and the other two drugs made me sick. The things that helped were (1) pretty much keeping on a bland diet during the two weeks of treatment--rice, chicken, etc. (2) switching to Velcade shots instead of drips, (3) taking over the counter anti-diarrhea medication (Imodium) after the first incident of diarrhea, (4) taking Miralax for the constipation, (5) they gave me anti-nausea medication along with the infusion of Cytoxan, and that mostly took care of the nausea.
