Is it okay to take curcumin during Darzalex treatment?

by Melpen on Thu Sep 27, 2018 1:15 pm

Does anyone know if it is safe to take curcumin when on a drug regimen of Darzalex, methylprednisolone, and Revlimid? How does curcumin interact with Darzalex?

Hi Melpen,

Have you asked your oncologist this question?

While I am a 6-year user of large doses of curcumin and think that it may possibly have helped keep my smoldering myeloma from advancing during this time, I would personally suspend taking any supplements if I were to undergo any sort of drug treatment for myeloma (unless my doctor specifically cleared a supplement). But that's just me. You might want to read this article:

Multibilly,

What dose of curcumin are you on?

I am still smoldering (going on 4 years now) and have been taking 4g of curcumin daily. I've heard about some people taking up to 8g.

Thanks.

I used to take 4g twice a day (8g per day) of regular curcumin + a 10mg bioperine tablet with each dose. I've since switched to using a C3 curcumin formulation with bioperine and I take 2g twice a day (4g per day). If you can believe some of the pseudo-scientific hype around C3 curcumin, it is supposedly more bioavailable than regular curcumin, and that's why I take a lower dose of it. C3 is a just a set combination of curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bis-demethoxycurcumin. I'm really not sure that C3 is any better than regular curcumin, so choose your curcumin formulation accordingly ;-)
