Re: cost of storing stem cells
Mine have been stored for almost 10 years. No cost to me, except now. Starting this year the fee will be $250, I think. I'm not sure if it was the company who had them didn't charge or what. But last year I got a notice, certified mail, that starting this year I'd be charged and I had to sign an agreement.

Re: cost of storing stem cells
Mine were harvested 9/2010 (enough for 5 transplants); I might have numbers wrong, but I think around 60 million cells. To date I have not been charged for storage. I know at the time they were expanding storage by building a larger facility so I am sure there are yearly costs associated with storage.
I receive treatment at UAMS in Little Rock and I know they do a great deal of research. Perhaps they use those cells from people that pass on in research??
