Conflicted about having a stem cell transplant

by simon on Sun May 25, 2014 7:54 pm

Hi, I've recently had stem cell collection, side effect from that "lower back cramps, big time", so I'm now on waiting list for transplant [New Zealand]. I'm very conflicted about the whole thing [transplant]. Imagination probably at the root of that. It's hard to know who andwhat to believe sometimes.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if I understand the cramps in your back? I had very discomforting bone pain from the drug given to stimulate stem cell production. I didn't have any about 24 hours past the last shot.
The results of a SCT vary considerably it seems. My experience was that, after treatment with Velcade and prednisone that dropped my numbers very low, I had a SCT 12 months later. I remained in complete remission for 3 1/2 years without any additional treatment.

I'm now on Revlimid to combat a rise in my lambda light chains and a slight M spike.
