Thank you for all the comments in this discussion thread. I am just beginning my journey and almost immediately fractured my ischium and a tumor on the hip-- and my pain levels are very high. But reading all the comments here about treatment helping with pain, I am moving forward. I start 10 days radiation tomorrow, already have had one Zometa infusion and will start the Revlimid and Velcade.
I have had chronic back pain since the 1980's so deal with pain, but the last few days it has been rough. Diagnosed finally 3 weeks ago - life has become a whirlwind - and because so much of the pelvis is damaged, I have gone from a walking stick to wheel chair so quickly. I was just about ready to toss in the towel and have a pity party, but, at 2 a.m., waiting for the pain med to kick in, I decided to come back and read more of the forum. Pity party over and on with the show! (65 year old female)
It is good to have such a great place to come for support.

Re: Concerned about radiation/chemo side effects
Hi TeresaKlaiber32,
I'm glad to hear that you're not throwing in the towel!
No doubt there's a lot going on for you at this early stage after your diagnosis. It's easy feel overwhelmed. But I can tell you that if you take things one step at a time and do what you need to do, things will get better. You'll soon be adapting to the "new normal" for you, whatever that is. (And the new normal keeps changing as we deal with multiple myeloma. But that's ok.)
Best wishes to you. Please keep us posted on how things are going.
Mike
