Clinical Trial on a personal level

by trainier2020 on Thu Jan 06, 2011 6:07 pm

Curious what my fellow MMers would do in my situation. I'll keep it short and sweet. I will be admitted tomorrow to begin my Allogeneic SCT. I have been asked to participate in a study or whatever you want to call it. A randomized study giving one group a lower dose of Melphalan. The problem I have with this, is this is my last chance for remission. I have gotten some results from drug therapies lasting only three months. I am currently on my third cycle of Rev/Dex. We saw my counts drop the first two months only to see them climb the third month. I've already had two autos. So you see my dilemma. I don't want to take the chance of getting the lower dose.

Anyone?

Hi, I've heard form a patient at the university of heidelberg with a similar profile. Every therapy failed. Then she began a trial with pomalidomide - and it worked. She's now stable for half a year. Perhaps you could enter this trial...I've now experiance with melphalan. Where are you treated. Seems to be that you're german. Then...viel, viel Glück!!! Peter
