Hi everyone,
As some of you may have noticed over the past week or two, The Beacon is now a non-profit. We'll be making a formal announcement about the change in the next few days, In the meantime, we've been making some changes on the site, and I'd like to ask your help in ensuring that everything has gone right with those changes.
In particular, we finally made the change today from being a "dot com" to being a "dot org". All the addresses here in the forum, and in our news articles and patient columns, should now be myelomabeacon.org, rather than www.myelomabeacon.com.
Now, we believe this changeover is complete and shouldn't be causing anyone any problems. However, if you seem to be having problems that could be related to the .com to .org changeover, please post about it here, and we'll do what we can to solve the problem.
We know that, for a while earlier today, things were not going so smoothly after the change, especially if you arrived at the forum using the old www.myelomabeacon.com/forum/ address. That issue, however, should be addressed.
Finally, if you'd like to show some appreciation for our efforts here at The Beacon by making a donation or two, we certainly won't object. We depend almost entirely on donations made by individuals, rather than companies or other organizations, so every little bit helps. There are donation buttons in the sidebar on just about every page of the site.
(And if there are problems with the donation buttons or process, please let us know as well!)
Thanks!

Re: Change from .com to .org
I haven't noticed any issues since the changeover, Boris, and I've poked around for a few minutes to see if anything went wrong. I'll let you know, though, if anything comes up.
Congratulations on the changes at the Beacon. I hope it's gone well, and good luck going forward.

Re: Change from .com to .org
Thanks for the feedback, Jim and lwem.
I have the sense that most, if not all, of the kinks related to the changeover have been taken care of. However, please let us know if you encounter any issues.
Thanks, as well, to those of you who have made donations. They have an immediate impact on our ability to serve you and the rest of the myeloma community, and they also encourage us by letting us know our work is appreciated.

Re: Change from .com to .org
Thanks for the heads up. The address change explains why the site dropped off my Safari frequent sites list and probably also explains why log in didn't autofill. No big deal for me, but I thought I'd post those for those who get baffled by odd things happening with their computers.

Re: Change from .com to .org
Thanks for mentioning those issues, Foundry738. You're right. The change from .com to .org will cause password autofill to stop working in most browsers. I forgot to mention that issue in my earlier posts.
The password autofill should work again if you re-enter the password and tell your browser that it's okay to remember the password.
If you can't remember or find your password, just go to this page in the forum,
https://myelomabeacon.org/forum/ucp.php?mode=sendpassword
and enter your user name and the email you used to register for your forum account. A new password will be sent to you right away. If you don't get the email in 10-15 minutes, check your email system's spam folder to make sure it isn't there.
