cell point EC-Glucosamine

by vince1 on Tue Feb 08, 2011 6:51 am

Cell point just released findings targeting cancer cells using imaging and injections of EC-Glucosamine

Briefly the process involves cancer cells attaching and consuming sugar content in cells and lightning up cancer inflamations. sorry i know very little about this process. can anyone explain more fully what this about.

ps I'm thinking this procedure utilizes sugar as a marker for cancer cells can anyone elaborate how this

procedure works.
Because of sugar used in this process, should i know eliminate as much sugar as possible from my diet

thank you Vince

Hi Vince,

I think this must be the news you're referring to:
http://liveshots.blogs.foxnews.com/2011/02/07/new-sugar-solution-may-detect-cancer-sooner/

It sounds to me that a sugar is attached to a radioactive compound that can be detected using an imaging machine, kind of like a PET scanner, but smaller and less expensive. Cancer cells gobble up the sugar, such that the radioactive compound concentrates in the cancer cells. Then if the imaging machine detects a hot spot (concentrated radioactive compound), then the patient has cancer. Maybe this can even be used to monitor cancer and whether treatment is working. If the hot spot shrinks during treatment, then the treatment must be working.

I've definitely heard people theorize that cancer thrives on sugar since these growing cells need lots of energy. It's just one more reason to support eating a healthy, balanced diet that doesn't contain an excessive amount of sugar.
