July 22 is the first anniversary of my stem cell transplant. I don't have any special plans, but I will be on vacation at our favorite lake hide away. It still feels like I need to mark the day.
What would you suggest for ways to celebrate this new birthday?

Mark,
Congratulations!
My standard celebration is to go out for apple pie and chocolate ice cream.
Keep up the good work.

Re: How to celebrate my stem cell transplant anniversary?
Mark,
My suggestion for your new 1 year birthday is to undertake a recreational or endurance sport activity that you really enjoyed before your multiple myeloma diagnosis as a self reward for how much you have come through. It may not be exactly as you remember it, but I am certain it will be sweet in its own right.

Me?
I went for cake and a haircut, my first since I lost it during the transplant. It was sad; I was cutting off my 'chemo-curls' and I missed them.
I sorta forgot about year two and three, and number four is going to see me, it looks like, getting another transplant to count new birthdays from.
I like new birthdays. May we both have many more of 'em.

Hi Mark.
I'm about 2 weeks behind you, so I'll be interested with where you land on this. But for me, I'm thinking maybe a tennis match with my biggest tennis rival. He's been very supportive of me this last year and would be thrilled if I could once again kick his butt on the court!

How wonderful a day this anniversaries marks for you. Party hardy with the people you love and those who love you! Of course, there is nothing like taking a quiet walk through some remote spot to celebrate what a privilege it is to be a part of such a beautiful world.
Thank you for sharing so much of yourself here. Best wishes for your continued good health.

Re: How to celebrate my stem cell transplant anniversary?
Thanks for the posts. We are at our property in eastern Washington. A beautiful and special place we didn't get to spend much time here last year. I planned on getting out on my boat, but the boat had other plans. We did enjoy the beauty of the lake. Played with the dogs. Got the boat going. It is just so good to be here.
