Carfilzomib

New to forum. Anyone have any experience with carfilzomib [Kyprolis]? Side effects efficacy, etc.

Carfilzomib is still in critical trials. It works like Velcade (bortezomib) but causes less peripheral neuropathy. Doctors seem quite excited about it. Good luck to you.

Dr. Martha Lacy from the Mayo Clinic said:

"Carfilzomib is a new proteasome inhibitor in the same class of drug as bortezomib (Velcade). It is an exciting agent.

A number of studies have shown it has activity in multiple myeloma, either alone or in combination with other medications. It is premature to say if it is better than the drugs already available, but so far it appears to have less risk of neuropathy than bortezomib [Velcade]."
