Hello,
I've previously been tested via bone marrow biopsy for chronic myeloid leukemia, myeloproliferative neoplasms (FGF, PDGFRA, and PDGFRB), and systemic mastocytosis and been ruled out of all of these. I'm seeing a new doctor and he has done another bone marrow biopsy to test for multiple myeloma. The prior negative diagnoses were years ago and I had forgotten about them until earlier today after the biopsy. I'm scared out of my mind and am wondering if these previous, negative test results by a competent doctor would rule out a positive multiple myeloma diagnosis.
Looking for any help at all. Scared out of my mind.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Can prior negative biopsies rule out multiple myeloma?
Not always. Sometimes a person with a negative biopsy can still have a solitary plasmacytoma or nonsecretory or oligosecretory myeloma, but I would say it is on the rarer side.
