My husband was diagnosed on the 20th of March with multiple myeloma with Monoclonal IgG Kappa :
IG 33.1
Kappa FLC 1010.0
Then he had another blood test prior to starting the treatment and the levels were:
IG 16.4
Kappa FLC 27.0
The specialist was surprised with the drop but said because of the bone lesions they would still go ahead with the treatment
What does this mean? Could it have been the fact that as soon as we found out he had multiple myeloma - I cut out all sugar and processed food out of our diet and tried to create an alkaline diet?? Or can this happen, I have heard that levels can fluctuate but that seems pretty extreme.
After the second round of treatment my husband is normal levels apparently...

Re: Can Blood levels drastically change without treatment?
Hi Ulricka,
My understanding is that whenever you see a big, or unexpected change in blood counts you should have the tests repeated to make sure it is not a lab error.
Hope that helps.

I agree that another set of labs should be drawn. Those seem like relatively large changes- in the absence of therapy. Please keep us updated.

Diet does effect multiple myeloma! I know! A more alkaline diet will decrease the cancer! And even cutting out sugar and white flour makes a big difference!
