Boron and magnesium for bone health?

by mdszj on Mon Jan 25, 2016 8:26 pm

I was reading that taking boron and magnesium supplements help maintain bone health. I am wondering if anyone is taking either or both of these minerals, and whether it has helped you.

Thanks.

Hello,

I take magnesium since 18 months, on prescription of a doctor (not a hematologist). I read that it is good for the bones, but I can't tell if it does any thing.

I take 300 mg per day (marine magnesium) associated with taurine (180 mg) and vitamin B6 (2 mg). I also take curcuma, glutathione, etc.

Boron? Why not. It may be a runway.

I read on wikipedia:

"boron strongly accumulates in the bone."
"Some of these compounds have been shown to be potent anti-osteoporosis agents, anti-inflammatory, anti-coagulant and anti-neoplastic both in vitro and in vivo in laboratory animals"
"to have an impact, it must be associated with magnesium for example"
"can be toxic, but everything depends on the dose"

My conclusion is that we are far from knowing what will have a positive and definitive impact on our health.

I am stage 1, and stable, but my hematologist at the hospital (who does not want to know what supplements I take), can not say if it will remain so all my life.
