Re: Bone marrow biopsy - videos cause unnecessary fear
Ah yes, the Claritin solution. Took it everyday up to and including the day the "Predator" ripped out my spine.
I have no idea why it didn't work for me, but thank goodness I have enough stem cells frozen now for 3 more transplants (if needed). I hope to never see that medication again.

Yeah, the studies are mixed. First line studies say 'Yes, Claritin works," but followup studies say 'No it doesn't, within statistical means, any more than a placebo." On the other hand, those same studies aren't too happy about Tylenol or NSAIDs, either. All any of us have to go by is anecdotes and 'what the hey, can't hurt!"
At least the studies do confirm that taking it doesn't do anybody harm.
As for me, I rather like not getting hay fever, especially in the California spring-after-the-drought-when-everything-is-pollenating-triply-well.
As for me, I figure that we should all do what's best for us, individually. I hope that people will have enough sense to not do stuff that will actually cause harm because someone's aunt's hairdresser overheard a guru tell a student that 'this will cure anything,' but when it's something like Claritin, where the findings are mixed and taking it does no harm? (shrug)
Why not?
I'm not quite as complete a researcher on these things as some, but I am pretty wary about 'what I found on the internet." It's a door to sources, not a source itself.
