We are waiting on FISH and karyotyping post transplant. The only results we have so far from the biopsy list less then 5% plasma cell with no clonal cells.
I am wondering if these preliminary results are positive or if they mean nothing with out the additional tests. Going into transplant he had no cytogenetic abnormalities.
Any insights would be great! Thanks!

Re: Bone marrow biopsy (plasma cell) results
This is very encouraging and is a reason to be happy (< 5% plasma cells with no clonal cells is considered "normal" for a healthy, non-mm person). This is post transplant, right? What did the same tests show going into the transplant?

Re: Bone marrow biopsy (plasma cell) results
Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately going in all I know is that the plasma cells were at 3% and I am not sure about clonal cells. The transplant doctors have been very elusive and hard to talk with. I know I could get a copy but I end up not understanding most of it getting all worked up about it!!

Multibilly always gets the correct answer before me.
Yes, these are encouraging results.

Re: Bone marrow biopsy (plasma cell) results
When I saw my labs online and results of bone marrow biopsy it said less than 5 percent, when I read the report it said 80 percent plasma cells. I found this very confusing and I will always read the report
