bone marrow and CRP high sensivity test

by majolica on Mon Jan 09, 2012 11:05 am

I just had my second bone marrow biopsy in six years for mgus w/acquired bleeding. I have a couple of questions about the results. Does it mean anything that my marrow in hypocellular? Still mgus based on 8-10% plasma cells/flow 85% abnormal. Also, whats does a high high-sensitivity C-reactive protein mean for a mgus patient. Thanks

Whether the hypocellularity is significant or not depends on the degree of the hypocellularity. Do you know the exact number? Also, realize that there can be sampling error, especially if the marrow sample is taken primarily from sub-cortical bone. CRP is quite non-specific and a marker of inflammation. It does not have significance in an MGUS case.

Great news that the MGUS has not progressed. Keep up the good work!
