Socal guy,
I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am sure it did hit you like a freight train and most of us can relate.
WM is somewhat like multiple myeloma and there is some overlap with a few of the treatments used with multiple myeloma. In any case, you are always welcome here and you may find this to be a pretty good place to discuss many of your various issues and challenges.
BTW, if you haven't found this site yet, these are the Mayo's diagnostic and treatment guidelines for WM:

Lastly, if you are a need of a second opinion in the so cal area (something I would encourage at some point), feel free to private message me.
Take care.

Re: Blood work shows elevated monoclonal protein
Hi SoCalGuy,
Sorry to hear about the Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia diagnosis. I know hearing that you have any type of cancer is shocking news, and takes some time to adjust to. Even if your doctor recommends a wait and watch approach. Sometimes that can be tougher psychologically than just going ahead and treating it.
I just wanted to let you know that a dear friend of mine, one of my college professors, was diagnosed with WM a couple of years ago. He went through treatment with Rituxan and has been in remission since then, doing well. I hope one positive anecdote helps your frame of mind a bit.
And Multibilly's suggestion of a second opinion is something well worth considering.
Best wishes,
Mike

Re: Blood work shows elevated monoclonal protein
Multibilly,
Thanks for the Mayo link I'm going to check it out. I'm thinking I'll wait until my next blood work up in 4 weeks before seeking a second opinion but if'/when I do I'll be sure to PM you. Thanks again!

Re: Blood work shows elevated monoclonal protein
Thanks, Mike, that's very uplifting to hear. I'm just now looking at some of the drugs used to treat WM so I'll be looking into Rituxan.
