We started giving my husband cannabidiol (CBD) oil and about a day later there were several strands of blood in his urine. He had to go into the hospital a few days later with sepsis, so we didn't think the blood was related to the CBD oil. About a week after getting home from the hospital we started the CBD oil three times a day. After two days his urine started out pink, then blood red, then blood red with clots. No fever, no pain, no burning sensation when urinating. He felt fine.
He has a huge plasmacytoma (actually it feels like at least three clustered) on his groin between his bladder and penis and I am hopeful that it could be the plasmacytoma breaking up and being eliminated from the CBD oil.
We discontinued the CBD oil and urine went back to normal within 24 hours. Very scary, but I can't find anything on the internet that says CBD oil has caused this. CBD is supposed to be completely safe.
In the mean time, Terry has been accepted into a clinical study, but if that doesn't work for him there is nothing else for him to try. The doctors said they have tried everything.
Does anyone know of an expert in CBD oil who I can contact, or does anyone have experience using CBD oil?

Re: Blood & blood clots in urine with CBD oil
Lisa,
Welcome to the forum. I see from your treatment history that your hubby has already tried RVD, SCT, Kyprolis, Bendamustine, Panobinostat, and currently Daratumumab.
Did you ask the hematologist if he would expect to see hematuria (blood in the urine) as a result of this particular plasmacytoma "breaking up"? Did you ask the doctor if the strands of blood could be biopsied to verify that they were actually a byproduct of this plasmacytoma "breaking up"?
There is a long-running post on marijuana and it's derivatives (including CBD) on this forum that you can find here.

Also, note that hematuria can suggest other serious conditions. You can also have hematuria and it won't necessarily show up as a change in the color in the urine. So don't assume that the hematuria resolved itself simply by the lack of visible blood strands and/or the urine changing back to a normal color. I would really encourage you to discuss this further with your hematologist and a urologist.
Lastly, I see you are in Aurora. Do you mind me asking where your husband is being treated?

The clinical study is taking place at CBCI. His oncologist is through Kaiser. Thank you so much for the information. I will set up an appointment with a urologist, tell them what is going on.

I'm no Doctor, but if my loved one reported a similar History, I would warn them re: Acute Tubular Necrosis and the need for a Nephrology consult, Stat!
Good luck.
Good luck.
