Best Wishes to Beacon Staff and all on East Coast/Hurricane
I would like to wish everyone in New Jersey, New York and surrounding areas the best of luck weather wise next week. I know that the Beacon headquarters is in New jersey, which could be in the path of Hurricane Sandy. I pray that the storm will stay out to sea, but if not, take really good care of yourselves. My husband Dilip and I were talking to a cousin who lives in New Jersey, and they were really making a lot of preparations in case the storm hit their area. I for one, would certainly understand if the Beacon were temporarily 'out of service' next week. Stay safe!!

Hi Nancy, thanks so much. My wife and two kids and I live in Haddonfield, NJ, literally in the direct path of Hurricane Sandy. We are battening down the hatches and we just learned that our respective offices will be closed two days and the kids' school as well. The beautiful fall foliage will soon be drifting your way! Cheers. Terry L.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, Nancy. The storm is definitely starting to make itself known. The winds were whipping already yesterday, and the rain started earlier this morning. There even was a brief power outage around 6:00 a.m. -- but that's it (so far!).
Unless something really wacky happens, The Beacon should stay up during the entire storm. There may be times when commenting on articles and posting to the forum aren't possible. But we hope that will be about the extent of Sandy's impact on The Beacon.
We also hope that others in the path of the storm (like Terry!) are able to make it through the next few days without too many serious challenges.
All the best,
Boris.

Re: Best Wishes to Beacon Staff and all on East Coast/Hurric
Well, our office and some of our homes lost power during the hurricane, but we are otherwise fine. Thankfully, The Myeloma Beacon stayed online throughout the storm. However, due to the power outage, any forum postings made yesterday after about 2:45 pm are at least temporarily lost. If you notice that your forum posting is missing, that would be why. Feel free to repost, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We hope everyone else stayed safe throughout the storm and that power is restored quickly to any of you who also lost power.

Hi Beacon Staff...I am very relieved to know that you were not right in the path of the hurricane. I was watching some of the news coverage, and it was really awful in some areas of the Eastern seaboard. My heart goes out to anyone who has suffered property damage or worse at this time.

Hello Terryl1 and Boris! I have made it through Sandy it was mostly rain for 2 days with high winds. So glad to hear that you are so far weathering this storm without serious challenges and that your families are safe. I know that it can be harsh and inconvenient still but have faith. While I had t mostly rain, my son is in NYC enduring the worse, and I am worried..Even thoughthe is safe (thank God) he has power outage challenges. Thank God for our blessings...will keep you and your families in my prayers. Sending you hope, strength and optiimism to handle all SANDY may have brought your way. You know I love Joel Osteen so sending a few words from him: "Each morning, if you are living favor-minded the Bible says, "Gods Blessings are going to chase you down and overtake you". IOW's you won't be able to outrun the good things of God. Everywhere you go, things are going to change in your favor. Every time you turn around, somebody's going to want to do something good for you. It's all due to the favor of God. The favor of God comes in the midst of Life's challenges (Sandy). When you are going through tough times, even if your situation looks impossible, stay in the attitude of faith, and start declaring God's favor instead of being discouraged and developing a sour attitude. One touch of God's favor can turn everything around in your life" Keep the faith and no matter how Sandy has made your life miserable or challenged..know God's favor is there with you. Love you both!

Hi Suzierose, we got slammed by Sandy hard. All state offices, including courthouses, are shut down again in NJ, so no work today. My kids' school is shut down again due to electrical problems and the nearby shore towns got devastated. My brother still cannot get to his home. I spent a lot of time as a kid in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ where my grandparents had a home two blocks from the beach. It got pummelled. The President is coming to NJ today and will tour the ruined areas with the governor.

Hi Terry and Suzierose, Good to hear that you came through the storm OK also. We have relatives in NJ, Queens NY, and CT. They all have lost power to their homes, but are otherwise OK. Seeing the news it's obvious that this was a very bad hurricane/tropical storm. Take good care of yourselves!
