I agree with the advice you've gotten so far. Your dad should do well with the induction phase, and I'm sure he will be glad to see you.
Now, speaking from my own experience - I am happy to see my daughter anytime! Even when she came to visit me when I was in the hospital ICU with an infection after my stem cell transplant.

Lots of good advice from the others. Since you are so far away from your parents, and other family, it would be nice if you could make a trip to Australia during this first part of your father's treatment. But, if you can't afford 2 trips in one year, I think that a visit after he has a stem cell transplant would really be appreciated by both of your parents. Of course, that depends on whether he will be planning to have a transplant after this initial induction therapy.
Right now, your father probably will be feeling ok, with minor side effects from this initial therapy. If he does have a stem cell transplant, he will be quite fatigued for a while after the transplant. Here in the US, there are lots of visits to the oncologist and bloodwork done for several weeks after the transplant. Having you there with them during this time would take some of the pressure off of your mother in making sure that your father has what he needs. It also is a time that the caregiver is most worried and could use some distraction.
Whenever you decide to make the trip will be very much appreciated by both your father and your mother. So, there is no wrong decision as to timing.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I really appreciate your comments.
After some thought, I have decided to visit Dad after his transplant, perhaps for Christmas, with my husband and daughters. I told dad I'd had trouble deciding what to do, and he said he was pleased I was waiting as they were in the zone and coping well at present.
I am so glad I found this forum, and I will keep you posted on Dad's progress.

Thank you for the update, Amy. I've been wondering what you may have decided. I'm glad you discussed the options with your father and came up with a solution that works for both of you. It's also great to hear that your father is "in the zone" and doing well with his treatment so far.
