Re: Best holiday presents for multiple myeloma patients
The best things that I had while I was going through my procedures was a portable Blu-ray DVD player (purchased specifically for my stay in the hospital), my laptop computer, and the proper cables that allowed me to hook them up to the flat screen TV in my hospital room. The laptop and cable allowed me to stream the college hockey games that I was missing while I was in the hospital, and the Blu-ray player allowed me to watch some movies and binge watch episodes of a TV show that I never watched while it was on TV (the newer version of Battlestar Galactica – yes, I'm a sci -fi geek.
). These along with a book or two really helped to pass the time.

Wireless headphones would be my suggestion for the "best Christmas gift for a myeloma patient." With wireless headphones, you can play your own tunes from a tablet or smartphone using bluetooth. They're small and portable.
You don't have to spend a fortune. Mine cost about $40 or so. I got them online when I started chemotherapy. I love them.
Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and Joan Baez music made all that time in the clinic enjoyable!
Merry Christmas,
Grace

I love all these ideas, but the best is the rolling bag. My husband and I bought a rolling under-the-seat bag for our visits to Boston after reading these posts, and now no more burden to our hands and shoulders! We can fit our iPads, reading materials, files/notes, small purse, handwipes- tissues-masks, water bottle, and a small cooler bag with yogurts and snacks into it. From parking lot to clinic and back. What a Godsend.

These are all great present ideas. I wanted to share that my sister bought me a gorgeous stone Siddhartha Buddha for Christmas. It is said to be the healing Buddha; promoting calm and good health. I love it, and think it is a very thoughtful gift for someone suffering from a chronic disease or ill health in general.
I’m also partial to Himalayan salt lamps, which create a nice cozy glow; the opposite of the nasty fluorescent lighting in hospitals.
