How long to get Bence-Jones urine protein test results?

Hi,

How long does it usually take until the results of a Bence-Jones urine protein test come in?

I had the test done on the 28th of August.

Hi Clearblue,

As usual, I am sure it varies from place to place. When I have the test done, once or twice a year, the local laboratory in the south of France will do the initial test themselves to check for the presence of proteins. If it is within limits, the test is complete, and I receive the result within a day. If, however, the proteins are above the limit, the sample will be sent off to a specialist laboratory in Paris, and this can mean waiting around four days for the printed out result. This is the detailed analysis, including Bence-Jones.

I have a 24-hour urine test done once a month. It takes close to a week for those results to post to my patient portal. I suppose it depends on what lab your doctor uses.

Regarding wait times for urine protein electrophoresis (UPEP) results: Sadly it's been taking 10 days or more at the cancer center that is handling my case. It was less than a week until the past year.
