Another question I have is that my sister has a lesion in her lower back in lumber area and we have been told it will get better as the treatment goes on... She says sometimes she feels her spine cracking... Like when u crack ur knockles. Is this normal? She is supposed to also get zometa injection which hopefully will help her. Also she says the pain is spreading toward her kidney area in the back. But pain is not very sever. She is able to Perry much do normal activities by taking 2 oxycodons a day...of course not mentioning the fatigue.
Should we be concern about the fact that the pain is spreading toward kidneys? Of course we will discuss w her doctor.but we were wondering if the velcate/dex/rev affects kidney function and pain or is this more of a refered pain from back lesion. His kidney function was normal before the start of treatment.
Thank u.

Re: back pain spreading toward kidneys
Without knowing what the imaging has shown it is difficult to give a reliable answer. The noises you describe are obviously not related to breaking bones but can be more related to architectural issues. Zometa can strengthen bone but will not usually fix things that hurt. It might be worth getting an MRI and seeing if there is anything that can be fixed by Kyphoplasty.
The fact that the pain is "spreading toward her kidney area" probably has nothing to do with the kidneys themselves. You are right, it is much more likely to be from the back.
None of the drugs you mention, Velcade, Revlimid or dex directly affect the kidneys.

Re: back pain spreading toward kidneys
Velcade does not go through the kidneys but I was told I could not take Rev because it is too hard on the kidneys. If Rev does not go through the kidneys ,I would like to know because it is a lot easier to take and would be another option for me.Though if this person had fine kidney function, they are probably fine. I was going into renal failure at the time and we were trying to get just a little more time out of my kidneys. Also kidney pain is not the same sort of pain as bone pain, so I think they would notice the difference. It is more like a feeling of getting punched suddenly. Or it least that is what I remember the most.
