back pain causes?

by bad blood on Tue Sep 04, 2012 11:00 am

I want to thank the forum for all there help. I posted a few weeks ago about mgus neuropathy.
Well now I have some back pain that is painful . How can you tell if this is degenerative back problems or mgus? Had a mri of my back a few years ago. Ruptured disks, scoliosis, tears etc. So how concerned should I be? Should I wait a couple of weeks to see if its goes away?

If the pain is similar to what you have had in the past when you previously underwent MRI, waiting a week or two to see how this plays out is reasonable. If the pain is out of proportion to what you have experienced in the past, I would get imaging sooner rather than later. A repeat MRI would be the best way to determine what is going on. Based on what is described in your previous MRI report, I would have to say that disc problems or arthritis would be the most likely causes of back pain. Myeloma would be less likely. An MRI would be able to distinguish between these possibilities.

Good luck!
