Azithromycin - safe for MGUS & smoldering myeloma?

by kuntrylover on Fri Jan 16, 2015 6:14 pm

Does anyone know if azithromycin (Zithromax) is safe for us MGUS / smoldering multiple myeloma folks to take?

I have strep throat and am allergic to a ton of antibiotics. A Z-Pak is one of the few that are safe for me to take.

I have multiple myeloma and have taken this antibiotic multiple times for different coughs and ear infections and other stuff that multiple myeloma makes us more prone to (secondary infections after colds). It works fine for me, no issues. So, from a multiple myeloma standpoint, you should be ok, as long as what you are treating is a bacterial infection that is sensitive to it.
