ASCO 2015 - any studies about myeloma treatments?

by Rneb on Fri May 29, 2015 3:18 pm

I'm sure Boris will do a crack up-wrap around article on ASCO 2015, but does anyone know if Myeloma drugs / Myeloma Study information is being disclosed ?

Thanks

Rneb

Hi Rneb,

We'll be publishing soon an overview of myeloma-related research to be presented at ASH. But, to answer your question, yes, there are studies looking at both new and existing myeloma therapies.

You can search the ASCO abstracts here:

http://abstracts.asco.org/156/CatView_156_S.html

There is also a partial list of myeloma-related abstracts here:

http://abstracts.asco.org/156/CatAbstView_156_116_AT.html

Probably the most anticipated study results are for elotuzumab and for daratumumab, as well as the more in-depth results from the ENDEAVOR trial comparing Kyprolis and Velcade.

As promised, here is our overview of the myeloma-related research that will be presented at the ASCO meeting in the next several days:

"Latest Myeloma Research To Be Presented At The American Society Of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting (ASCO 2015)," The Myeloma Beacon, May 29, 2015

Also, we've made three lists of all the abstracts for myeloma-related presentations at the ASCO meeting. Each list has the presentation title, authors, and a link to the complete abstract (at the ASCO website).

ASCO 2015 Multiple Myeloma Oral Presentations
ASCO 2015 Multiple Myeloma Poster Presentations
ASCO 2015 Multiple Myeloma eAbstracts

If you're unfamiliar with the different between oral presentations and poster presentations at meetings such as ASCO, please see the last few paragraphs in the article we link to at the beginning of this posting.

Finally, if you're new to reading medical meeting abstracts, you may find it helpful to review this article we published a couple of years ago:

"Tips For Making Sense Of The Research Results Presented At This Year’s ASH Annual Meeting," The Myeloma Beacon, Dec 8, 2012

It's not a complete list of tips and caveats, but it does point out a number of key things to keep in mind when reading meeting abstracts.

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind feedback, Multibilly. It's much appreciated.

For those who may be interested, The Beacon published a look at the daratumumab results that will be presented at the ASCO meeting. The abstract with the results was made public this morning. Here's the article:

"Daratumumab Continues To Show Substantial Promise As Potential New Treatment For Multiple Myeloma (ASCO 2015)," The Myeloma Beacon, May 30, 2015.

I hope everyone's weekend has started well.

I can't add a lot to what the others already said, but thank you for the abstract lists and the articles about the meeting. They are all very helpful.

I'll pile on here. I find the summaries you write of the major conferences to be extremely useful. I could dig through it all myself, but having it right here with the emphasis on myeloma treatment is really great. Thanks so much!

If you have not recently checked our lists of myeloma-related abstracts from this year's ASCO meeting, you may want to do so. Many of the abstract titles now include links that will allow you to view the actual posters and slide decks that were presented at the meeting.

We'll be adding additional slide decks and posters over the course of the coming weeks, as well as more articles about the meeting and the upcoming European Hematology Association (EHA) meeting.
