This review article was published just recently:
"Treatment of autologous stem cell transplant-eligible multiple myeloma patients: ten questions and answers"
Mohamad Mohty and Jean-Luc Harousseau, Haematologica, March 1, 2014.
http://www.haematologica.org/content/99/3/408.long (full text)
One of the co-authors, Jean-Luc Harousseau, is among the most respected myeloma specialists in France.
The review doesn't contain any surprises. When it comes to most of the big controversies related to transplantation, the authors generally say "more studies are needed."
The review is useful, however, because it sketches the evidence that is out there on some of the key questions related to transplantation.

Re: Article: Stem cell transplants for myeloma - Q&A
Thanks for posting that interesting article, Terry H. Reading through it gave a very good summary of the topic of ASCT. The references are interesting too. #71 must have been a Canadian study...I recognized four of the authors names, and I think it was from Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto.
