Anyone have any cures for itching from Velcade

I am now itching all over my body from the Velcade shot. No welts or rash but continued itching going on the second week. If anyone has any ideas to stop it, I would love to hear them.

I have taken Benadryl but it does not seem to do much. Talked to the nurse but all she wants to do is to argue with me that it could not be the Velcade since I had 2 previous shots that did not cause any ill effects. (This she told me after I had stopped all other supplements that I take for 5 days to make sure that it was none of those causing the itching.)

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Barb,
I'm so sorry to hear how uncomfortable you are from Velcade. Does any type of over the counter cortisone cream help?

I will be starting on maintenance Velcade therapy today. I've been on Velcade before and always get the red, itchy blotch on my skin from where the injection site is, and that red blotch does itch for about a week, but I've never gotten the itchy feeling over my entire body.

I hope you find something that will help resolve the itchiness.

The PA in my husband's doctor's office recommended a rash combo of Zantac, Zyrtec, and L Lysine. It worked like a charm for him. The dose was one of each daily taken together. We buy the store brand of the Zantac and Zyrtec and can't tell the difference between those and the name brand.

Thanks so much for the replies. I am still dealing with this but will go to the drugstore today to get the items suggested. Hopefully, this will work as I have really been digging at my skin. Have tried cortizone cream & it helps for a short while but is only temporary (not even a couple hours).
