Hello,
Does anyone have suggestions for severe bone pain?
Thanks.

Re: Any suggestions for severe bone pain?
HI Hopeful, Are you already being treated for myeloma? I know that the pain I had decreased after I was treated with chemotherapy and with bisphosphonate building therapy (Aredia, but it seems more likely now one would be treated with Zometa).
There are restrictions suggested for pain meds, some of which could be detrimental to the kidneys.
Another time when I had severe bone pain was during the stem cell harvest, when I was taking Neupogen injections to stimulate the growth of stem cells in the bone marrow. During those times I sometimes took Tylenol3, but only after discussing that with my doctors.
Hope that helps!

Re: Any suggestions for severe bone pain?
You don't mention at what stage you are in treatment?
I was on Oxycontin (oxycodone) heavily during the first month of treatment due to my hip being full of lesions, making it almost impossible to walk. But, after radiation treatments and a month of treatment, my bone pain began to subside. I pulled the pain meds from my daily pill intake and used Tylenol for a couple of months after that.
I still occasionally have some bone pain. If it's bad, I pop a Oxycontin to help me sleep and typically feel better in the morning.
For me, the bone pain got much better as the lesions in my bones stopped growing and slowly healed with the addition of monthly Zometa.
