Re: Any experience taking curcumin while on dex other multip

Hi Chris,
When I was taking Velcade, I was warned against taking supplemental vitamin C (and Green Tea) as they thought it might inhibit the Velcade.
Although it doesn't look as if it inhibited your response--good job!
But no coffee? Now that is serious business-ha.

My brother, Kevin Walsh, has been taking the following for two years
after being diagnosed with High Tumor Multiple Myeloma

4 grams of Doctors Best Curcumin with Bioprene (Sabinsa Corp manufacturer)
2 tablets of Resveratrol (Solaray Brand)
Fish OIl (Carlson Brand)
Vitamin D

also from time to time Pomegranate tablets

He is tested monthly and his blood numbers keep coming back normal
despite the fact that he smoke and drinks which I find amazing.

He was taking curcumin between his doses of Velcade and dex.

He has not taken Velcade a dex for two years and is currently living a full life with no problems, but I cant get him to give up smoking and drinking

As a recently diagnosed SMM patient, I am considering starting a curcumin regimen to see if this will keep this disease in check (along with eating a diet super-rich in micronutrients). If my situation progresses to the point where I need conventional treatment such as chemo and maybe an SCT down the line, I will go down that path as I think that this disease can absolutely become bigger than what the body can deal with on its own, even with the best diet and natural substances (IMHO). But since I am currently in a holding stage while being monitored as a SMM patient, it seems like a worthwhile (although costly) option to explore.

I will be discussing using curcumin with my oncologists over the next 2-3 weeks before I start and after I get my next round of serum/urine test results back so that I will have three sets of earlier lab results to use for comparison. For those of you that have researched curcumin and heard about the M.D. Anderson curcumin study, I found these video links to be helpful in shedding more light on their results.

Hi Dennis, as strange as this seems, several studies have shown that smokers and drinkers (especially alcohol consumption), have a lower incidence multiple myeloma than those who abstain from tobacco and alcohol. See, http://www.medpagetoday.com/clinical-context/MultipleMyeloma/29308
