Anemia after bone lesion - hysterectomy needed?

by EdL on Fri Oct 04, 2013 4:45 pm

My wife had a rib resection done 3 yrs. ago after finding a lesion on her 8th rib. and is curretly considered Stage 1 by her oncologist. We are very fortunate that she hasn't had to undergo any chemo or radiation at this time.

Since this surgery she has had a continuous problem with anemia. In Aug. she had 5 days of iron infusions and got a small positive response.

Her oncologist has recommended to her OB/GYN that she get a complete hysterectomy. We aren't having any more kids but she is only 41. Her OB/GYN has recommended an ablation instead of surgery. Has anyone had this procedure? Was it successful?

Any other thoughts on how to gain some ground on this prolonged battle with anemia?
