First, I have had allergy and cold symptoms for the better part of 3 months. Cough, occasional sinus pressure and a terrible ongoing crusty nose. My secretions are for the most part clear, but I do have times when it is yellow and sticky or greenish with hard particulates. I caught a cold and had laryngitis that is just about gone now.
My Allegra D didn't help, in fact I stopped taking it and I seemed to do better. Guiafenesin seems to work best, but I wonder how long I should keep taking it. My labs a few weeks ago show an inflammatory response, but no infection and I have had no fever. I do take aspirin every day to prevent DVTs, and meloxicam at night for tendinosis of my right shoulder. Sure would like these symptoms to end. I have had 2 c-diff infections, so I want to be careful about using antibiotics.
Does anyone else struggle with these allergy and sinus symptoms? I had my immunizations and flu shot last week, will my cold reduce the potency of my flu shot? My nurse didn't seem to have any reservations about giving them to me.
Secondly, I started having tingling/numbness in my hands and fingers a week ago and now in my feet. I haven't had this happen since I was on thalidomide a year ago for my induction treatment (VDT-PACE), I took neurontin for a few months and it cleared up, although I stopped treatment too since I had a complete response and would prepare for SCT. Now I am on Revlimid 10 mg a day for 21 days and then a week off. I am going to call the doctor at the beginning of the week to see what he says. I wonder if we will decrease my maintenance dose or go back on Neurontin?
I am finally on the road to getting back to work, and now a new side effect shows up. It's always something, right?

Re: Allergy & cold symptoms + tingling / numbness
Hi,
You might considering asking for a culture of nasal/sinus secretions if this doesn't go away to see if there is an antibiotic that is appropriate for your problems. I'm about 14 months with my sinus infection which seems to wax and wane and at this time is an upper respiratory infection.. I have had 2 sinus surgeries to clean out the secretions that had crusted over and would not drain. As long as I am on antibiotics, I seem to do OK; but this isn't the way to go. I have a below normal IgG level and also low lymphocytes which doesn't help.
Good luck, Kay

Re: Allergy & cold symptoms + tingling / numbness
Hi,
I too suffer from sinus problems, in fact it was my on going sinus problems that led to my multiple myeloma diagnosis.
I too had tried Allegra D but it did not help, just made me drowsy!
I also started snoring very loud which disturbed my sleep as well as my husbands., so I went to see an ENT doctor who suggested I try a nasal spray called Nasonex (prescription only) for one month. It has only been 1 week and my sinus blockage, post nasal drip, and congestion have cleared up. Snoring is much quoted too.
Give it a try and good luck.
