allergic skin reaction to imid

Skin reaction to lenalidomide devloped on 4th day with redness in head and itching and small rashes on legs and hands , subsided after the medication was stopped ...doc has changed lenalidamide to thalidomide ,,i am concerned that it will produce same allergic reaction ..any ideas?

Those symptoms are not uncommon with Lenalidomide/Revlimid. The frequently disappear after holding the medication. Sometimes when the medication is restarted they do not occur. Zyrtec or other antihistamines can also help. Even dose reductions in the medication can help.

Similar symptoms may occur with Thalidomide.

I would keep an eye on it and let your physician know if you are having symptoms again. And Please do not start the above mentioned medications without letting him or her know.
