Air purifier for post stem cell transplant use?

Although early on in the process, we are already starting preparations for my father's return home from the hospital after his stem cell transplant. My mom had the house set up for a deep cleaning this week, steam cleaned carpets, tiles, furniture and bed. They do not have forced air/heat in the home, but we are interested in getting a couple air purifiers for the rooms where my dad will spend most of his time.

Does anyone have suggestions on an air purifier, brand/type, that we should look into to equip our home to help with bacteria / dust / etc.?

In my opinion, an air purifier isn't necessary. I didn't have one after my autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT), and I did just fine. My cats even slept with me within an hour of my coming home. The one thing that you don't want your father to do if there are any pets in the house is to take care of their feces or urine.

Washing hands, avoiding people who are ill, avoiding crowds, and keeping surfaces clean are really the extent of the precautions that you need to take. Some people wear masks in public, but I never did.

But do what you feel makes all of you comfortable for your father.
