I do quite a bit of research to help me make decisions about my treatment. So I have two questions.
If I find an abstract that interests me and there is no ready link to a full published study, is there any way to get more information about the research that supports the abstract?
Also, sometimes full studies are not available for free. Has anyone used the library services at a local medical school to do research?

Re: Access to published journal articles & related studies?
Have you tried cutting and pasting the abstract article title into Google and then doing a search? I often find the full text will be available on other sites (not always, but often enough). You might have to sift through a handful of the returned Google links to find the full text article.

Re: Access to published journal articles & related studies?
Is there a way for patients to access/read full medical journal articles? I am interested in reading the full text of an article cited by one of the medical advisors on here about polyclonal response and plasmacytosis in the setting of extended therapy. Thanks for any info.

One approach would be to contact the author and ask for a copy. I cannot imagine that any physician or scientist will give a blind eye to a polite request from a patient. I have done that in the past with some success.

I've been fortunate to have access to a university library account. The university has subscriptions to PubMed and NIH so I can usually get full articles there that I'd otherwise have to pay for.
If there's a university student in your life, see if they can get you articles through school.
