Acceptable Kappa/Lambda ratio

by guptapradeep on Sat Jan 19, 2013 12:04 pm

Dear all,
I was diagnosed with Myeloma couple of years back and had a completer response after 24 cycles of Velcade (Bortezomib). I however have got impaired Renal function (Creatinine 2.4).

Today (Jan 2013) I checked my light chains with the following results.
KAPPA: 41.8
LAMBDA: 18.4
RATIO: 2.27

Is this an acceptable ratio given my Renal condition?

Last year (2012, May) my light chain was as follows:
KAPPA: 31.1
LAMBDA: 17
RATIO: 1.83

As you can see the KAPPA number have gone-up. My Renal condition has not deteriorated further.

I am worried. Please let me know your thoughts. Appreciate a lot!

There is a similare discussion on a current thred. See that discussion since it is relevent to your question. I would take the advice Nancy gives and have the test re-run by your Dr.

It looks like quite a spread in time between your tests. I have a light chain assay run once every 2 months and it used to be once a month. Is it possible that other tests had been run in between?
