Hello All!
I had a bit of pretty good news today when we toddled over to the Donald Gordon Hospital where the oncology rooms are.
I had my normal needle in the vein in the inner elbow. Then we waited to be called to the doc. The tests are done onsite and only take 10 minutes or so! The good doc was most happy to see us! So something was in the air! No it was my platelet count! It has been on a rather slow rise since the SCT (or SCR - Stem Cell Rescue). I had hit 75! The highest the count has been since I was diagnosed just over 2 years back! Then having a geriatric specialist trying to do the oncology bit giving me nice pink blood with Alkeran. Two pills a day and see me in six weeks!
The count now is just over 75000! Still low by the normal standard but still the hugest its ever been! I not complaining! But then who knows -- maybe my platelets hide away when they hear the word needle! <vbg!>
The other good news is that my dreaded Betanoid (betmethasone) dosage is slashed in half! Now just 2 x 0.5 mg per day in a 5 day on, 9 day off cycle. I might just get a bit more improved vision plus a few other cortisone side effects!
Happy Ang
