10 months after ASCT

by LuckyT on Sat Nov 05, 2011 7:39 pm

Had ASCT 12/10.. 9/28 went for F/U Pet scan; 24 hr urine and labs. was on Revlimid 25mgs 21 days on 7 days off since 3/11.. Told I am Complete response. No M proteins detected in blood or Urine Pet Scan showed no change in lesions! Revlimid now 10mgs 21on/7off until ....told that long term could produce malignancies so hoping to be off soon. WBC remain low 3.5 but better than 2.2 ( 9/28) and IgA remains really low so must monitor my Temp daily and if I do become febrile to notify MD at once ( don't wait for symptoms) so that I can be put on antibiotics. Because there is no cure for this beast I tell people with multiple myeloma we cannot slay it yet but we sure can kick it's ass! I am fortunate that I have no other health issues and I am a RN working full time as a floor nurse on a busy unit... so I must stay strong for my patients ....

Hi LT,
Welcome and from your post seems that overall you all doing quite well. Hope this continues to be the case. I'm going for the transplant this week and it's nice to read about people who are having positive results

Good day I too am a nurse I got a complete response after my transplant in 2009 , but I have not gone back into the hospital even though I would really like to. I was hoping we could correspond because I would be very curious how well you working on the floor with all the germs works?Do you have bone lesions ?

Thank Theresa

Hi Theresa! Yes I am a floor nurse and I carry hand gel, and use gloves for everything including handling equipment. So far I am "germ free" LOL Yes I have bone lesions R ribs lower spine and L hip but since the transplant I am pain free I have not even used tylenol and I was on 100 Fentanyl patch chaned every 72 hrs and 1 percocet every 4 hrs as needed and I needed it! So I am pretty stoked that I am able to handle it in fact I have been back to work since March ( 3 months after transplant) and have not called in either! email me 4bdnfruit [{at}] optonline [{dot}] net and we can chat!
