Re: Starting Velcade - experiences, tips, responses?

Make sure you tell your oncologist if you have any numbness, tingling, or pain in your feet, legs, or hands because, believe me, you don't want to get Velcade-induced peripheral neuropathy. God Bless.

Re: Lyrica and gabapentin for peripheral neuropathy

After getting Grade 4 peripheral neuropathy after Velcade, I was on 3600 mg of gabapentin and 300 mg of a fentanyl patch. I was like a zombie. The cramping stopped after 2 months, but I still have pain in my feet and legs. I weaned myself off the patch and am down to 300 mg of gabapentin at night to...

Re: Aredia flu-like symptoms

I had the same problem. Here is what solved it: one-half liter of fluids before the infusion, then tripled the infusion time of the Aredia, then another one-half liter of fluids after the infusion, then 500 mg of Tylenol. Continue Tylenol for 2 more days at 500 mg after breakfast and 500 mg after di...

Re: Compromised immune system but normal blood test results?

Yes, infections are normal after having a transplant. Remember, the transplant has compromised your immune system and you should stay away from children and not put your hands in dirt or other things that are not sterile. I got pneumonia and the flu within 2 years of my transplant. But since I have ...

Re: Revlimid - when do you take it?

I take 10 mg of Revlimid at 9 a.m. each day. I did have kidney involvement initially, but has improved dramatically. It does tire me somewhat, but I'm fatigued all the time anyway so I don't let it bother me, as best I can.

Re: Weekly Poll - Had Early Transplant - Same Decision Again

Peggy, you should probably be on 10 mg of Revlimid as maintenance therapy 6 months after your transplant. Discuss this with your oncologist.

God Bless, George

Re: One year post transplant - immunization

The most important thing to remember is that you should not get any "LIVE" shots. Example: The shingles shot.

Re: Multiple lesions, starting Zometa next month

I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in January of 2011. I had 12 lytic lesions. I took Zometa, monthly, for 2 years and then, after auto SCT, I have had it once every 3 months. As of 3 months ago, my full skeleton survey showed that all lesions had healed and were stable.

Re: Above normal serum kappa free light chain results

From my understanding, the kappa/lambda free light chain ratio is the most important. However, if your kappa free light chain goes haywire, then I would worry. I would suggest you ask your onc at your next visit.

Best Regards, Geo.

Re: How long after your SCT did you start maintenance?

I started 10 mg of Revlimid after my auto SCT. As far as I know, Revlimid is recommended as maintenance therapy 4-6 months after transplant. Clinical trials that I have seen shows that maintenance therapy after auto SCT doubles progression free survival and overall survival as compared to a placebo....
