Current Trends In Leukemia, Lymphoma, And Myeloma – On February 28, 2009, Physicians’ Education Resources will be holding an educational program titled Current Trends in Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The focus of the program is to provide cancer care professionals with information on advances originally presented at hematology conferences in 2008. Current Trends In Leukemia, Lymphoma, And Myeloma ― The educational symposium will update practicing medical oncologists, hematologists, and nurses on new advances in the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, as presented at major hematology conferences in 2008. Sponsored by the Physicians’ Education Resource, the event will be held on February 21 at the Sofitel Philadelphia in Philadelphia. Blood, Stem Cells And Cancers Of The Blood ― The seventh annual Charles B. Huggins Lecture Series, "Blood, Stem Cells and Cancers of the Blood," will be led by University of Chicago Ph.D. candidate Wei Xu. Over the eight-week series, Xu will give an overview of components of the blood and how and where they are formed. The lectures are designed for the general public and will be especially informative for cancer patients and their families. The two remaining lectures will be given on February 21 (“Cancer Stem Cells: In the Blood and Elsewhere”) and February 28 (“Current and Emerging Therapies for Leukemia and Lymphoma”). The lectures will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at the Billings Auditorium, Room AMB P117, in the University of Chicago Medical Center.
