The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will be hosting their first annual "Poker Jingle at the Hard Rock Poker Lounge" in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 12. The funds raised will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Southern Nevada chapter.

The holiday party is being held in memory of Mindy Trinidad, a member of the poker community who recently passed away from Acute Leukemia. The annual Farmers Santa Parade will be held on Sunday in Auckland, New Zealand. The Leukaemia & Blood Foundation (LBF), similar to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, has been chosen to receive the money raised.

Each year, the parade organizers nominate a charity for which to collect. LBF, supported entirely by donations, is the only organization in New Zealand dedicated to supporting patients and families with blood-related diseases.

The parade is the largest in New Zealand and is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

Light The Night Walk For A Cure - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society organized its fourth-annual Light the Night Walk in The Woodlands, Texas, attracting more than 1000 walkers. The walk raised over $235,000 towards research for blood cancers. The event has been increasingly popular, quadrupling both in number of participants and dollars raised in the last four years. Light the Night Walk is a national campaign that celebrates everyone who has been touched by cancer. During the two to three mile route, walkers carry different colored balloons designating their status and dedication banners displaying a name or message to honor a family member or friend with cancer. Aside from the actual walk, the event offers food, live entertainment, and family activities.

Kennedy Wins American Cancer Society's Medal Of Honor For Cancer Control - Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts was presented with the American Cancer Society’s highest honor, the Medal of Honor for Cancer Control, on Friday for his forty-year legislative fight against cancer. Kennedy, who is fighting his own battle with brain cancer, has advocated for issues ranging from equal access to health care, increased funding for cancer research, and early detection cancer screenings during his time in the Senate. As chairman of the Senate’s health subcommittee, he led the passage of the National Cancer Act, which authorized increased funding for federal cancer research, currently amounting to over $4 billion per year. He has also supported research and education related to blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. In the upcoming 111th Congress, Kennedy is looking to introduce comprehensive cancer legislation that will address all of cancer care, ranging from prevention to treatment to cure.

The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) held its second annual Comedy Celebration benefiting The Peter Boyle Memorial Fund on Saturday in Los Angeles, California.

Peter Boyle was an Emmy Award-winning actor and was most recently well-known as the father, Frank Barone, on the CBS show Everybody Loves Raymond. Fellow cast members Ray Romano, Doris Roberts, and Patricia Heaton were among the guests at this year's benefit.

Stein Eriksen Lodge Designates Giving Room to Huntsman Cancer Institute - The Stein Eriksen Lodge at the Utah’s Deer Valley ski resort has designated 10% of the revenues from one of its rooms to benefit the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. Overall, the Lodge hopes to raise $50,000 for Huntsman's “Room to Heal” campaign. The campaign will help Huntsman double its patient capacity, build a new Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant and Myeloma Program, and expand its Cancer Learning and Wellness Centers.

Golfers Hit the Green for Charity – Planned Systems International (PSI), a provider of IT solutions and services to the federal government and private sector, raised $41,008 for charity with its 12th annual golf invitational. Of this, $36,592 will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
