ASH 2013 Multiple Myeloma Gateway Now Available

The Myeloma Beacon has launched its ASH 2013 Multiple Myeloma Gateway [1].

The new ASH gateway, which will be updated regularly during and after the meeting, is a central launchpad for accessing all the Beacon’s ASH-related content.  That content includes, or will include, Beacon news articles about ASH, abstracts from the meeting, and presentation slides and posters. Readers can easily access the gateway through a link at the top of every page of The Myeloma Beacon.

This is the first year The Beacon has offered a resource of this kind to the myeloma community.  It has been developed, in part, because the Beacon’s content related to the American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting has expanded significantly.

This year’s ASH meeting is taking place in New Orleans, and it is poised to swing into full gear.

One of the lengthier sections of the new gateway is a chronological list of all meeting sessions that will have at least one myeloma-related presentation.  This list will be particularly useful for meeting attendees.  It includes the location of each session in the list, the session date and time, the number of myeloma-related presentations that will take place during the session, and a link to the abstracts for those presentations.

All Beacon readers are likely to appreciate a table in the gateway that lists links to meeting abstracts arranged by topic.  There is a link in the table, for example, that will display all abstracts related to potential new myeloma therapies.  There are also links to abstracts about specific myeloma treatments, and to abstracts about topics such as stem cell transplantation, maintenance therapy, and treatment with bisphosphonates.

Finally, as the meeting proceeds, a link in the gateway will provide an updated list of all abstracts with accompanying slides or posters, which The Beacon will make available to its readers in cooperation with the researchers who will be presenting at the meeting.

“It has always been a key focus of The Beacon,” explains its publisher, Boris Simkovich, “to make it easy for everyone in the myeloma community to access and understand the latest myeloma-related research.  The new ASH 2013 Multiple Myeloma Gateway is a reflection of that focus – a focus which, in turn, reflects the Beacon’s mission to improve the treatment, care, and support available to current and future multiple myeloma patients worldwide.”
